Hello World!

2 minute read

Welcome to my website!

The goal of this blog (and website) is to provide a place to document, and showcase the many projects that occupy my spare time. When I’m not working (or gaming) I’m usually tinkering, designing, or dreaming up some crazy new project. I’ve got a literal decade of random ideas, endless-rabbitholes, pointless-musings, and halfway-decent-projects that are dying to be shown to the world..

Hopefully by the time you’re reading this, this website is full of posts, demos, and showcases of all my hobbies, projects, and interests! If it’s still pretty barren.. Then buckle up and get ready to be overwhelmed 😅

Here’s a sneak peak of what I’m talking about..

1. Astrophotography

I’m a huge space nerd and an amateur astrophotographer! Here are some of the better images I’ve taken from my backyard:

The Orion Nebula The Andromeda Galaxy Cigar and Bode Galaxies Great American Solar Eclipse

2. Robots+

I have a background in Mechatronic Systems Engineering and a complete love for robotics! Here are some of my more interesting school projects:

Balancing Plate

Computer vision assisted laser pointer

Hybrid Rocket Motor

It’s not really a robot.. but it was a school project.

3. Simulations

As someone who, presumably, lives in the real world I frequently enjoy trying to simulate parts of it. Here are some of my simulation projects:

Hybrid Rocket Motor - Fuel Regression Simulations

We simulated the solid fuel of our hybrid rocket motor burning with various cross-sectional shapes to see the fuel burn rate / time relationship. In the end we opted for a basic circle, and these simulations never made it into our report 😑

And here is an example of the “Fuel Burn Rate vs Time” output

My Horizon - Android Live Wallpaper

An android live wallpaper that shows the current state of visible celestial objects for your horizon. The idea has 3 main goals, 1) Remind you what is visible at any moment in time, hopefully getting you outside and looking up, 2) An instant reference to answer the constant question of “Hey, what’s that bright star/planet I see in the night sky”, 3) Is the/When is the ISS/Starlink/etc going to be visible to me next?! I still want to do this, so I hereby claim this idea, please don’t steal it. This also includes Atmospheric Scattering Simulation (albeit very low resolution)

Atmospheric Scattering

Yes, I even made a tool to physically render/simulate atmospheric scattering for the parallax header for my website… As seen above The tool also lets you change the various rendering and scattering parameters, letting you make it look like sunrise 🌄 Sunrise/Sunset Or making it foggy! 🌁 Foggy Maybe one day I’ll add this functionality to this website (dynamic colors based on the current time? Yes please!)

And So Much More!

This was just a teaser of what is to come, please check back later for more posts!
